Paul Valipour
M.A., LPC, CADC | Licensed Professional Counselor & Certified Alcohol and other Drug Counselor
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and Certified Alcohol and Other Drug Counselor. I have 18 years of mental health experience that ranges across all available levels of care. I specialize in working with individuals experiencing OCD, anxiety, depression, and substance use disorders.
Background
I began working in mental health in 2008 after my honorable discharge from the United States Marine Corps. I worked at Northwest Community Hospital's adolescent residential facility as a substance abuse technician from 2008 to 2014. During that time, I earned my CADC eligibility from Oakton Community College in Des Plaines, IL.
From 2014 to 2016, I worked at Central States SER, a non-profit organization that serviced Chicago neighborhoods. I provided a range of services that included 1:1 counseling as well as home visits for those unable to attend in-person services due to socioeconomic hardship.
From 2016 to 2022, I worked at Rogers Behavioral Health in Skokie, IL, as a behavioral specialist at the PHP and IOP levels of care. I worked in their depression recovery program, OCD/Anxiety disorder program, and was the addictions counselor for their mental health and addiction recovery dual diagnosis program.
During that time, I earned my Bachelor's degree in Psychology at Northwestern University in Evanston, IL, and earned my Master's degree at Northeastern Illinois University in Chicago, IL.
I am trained in CBT, DBT, and ERP but include facets of Reality Therapy into my practice. I believe that if we attempt to seek out "influence" rather than "control" in our lives, it can separate us from thoughts that might have been barriers to behavioral change. I believe through therapy we can bring options to our daily lives. I look forward to exploring those options with you!
